BA, MACP
Associate Therapist

Hello, my name is Alanna Russell and I am an Associative Therapist at Thrive. I have Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Gender Studies from the University of Winnipeg and a Masters of Arts in Counselling in Psychology from Yorkville University.

I have experience working with adolescents and adults within a client-centered approach to address daily life and emotional difficulties. My work is tailored towards the uniqueness of each individual such by utilizing evidence-based approaches including Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have been honored to collaborate with clients managing issues of anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, self-identity, sexual assault, communication, and relationship difficulties. I personally believe that authentic connection with others is one of the greatest tools we have in our healing journeys and therefore aim to provide a non-judgemental environment for my clients to reflect, explore, and be heard. Setting intentions is important to me in how I attend to your problems and help you reach your goals. I also enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ individuals to sensitively explore the complexities of how we identify ourselves and connect with others.

In my free time, I love adventuring local music, art, and restaurants. I also like to play guitar, do yoga, and try different types of dance classes.

If we have the opportunity to work together, it would be an honor getting to know you and helping you sort your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
