Eva Klassen
BEd, MMFT Student
Student Therapist
Hi! I’m Eva Klassen (she/her). I’m currently working on my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Winnipeg where I also received my Bachelor of Education. I am a student-member of the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Whether you are looking for support around mental health concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, or suicidal ideation, or you’re navigating a life transition, wanting to develop positive coping skills, or yearning to feel more vibrant and alive, I am here for you!
As a therapist, I work from a systems perspective; factoring in all the moving pieces and looking at the whole picture rather than just one part. I believe in a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. This could mean working from a narrative perspective, moving towards increased mindfulness, acceptance and compassion, working with the inner child, or doing parts work (IFS), always with a focus on the connection between mind and body (somatic therapy). Our work in therapy is tailored to you, your needs and your goals. I am currently working with individual clients who are ages 16+.
I am completing my training in Nature-Based therapy and am available for walk- and-talk therapy, as well as a more immersive type of nature-based therapy. In this type of immersive work, I pull from my background as a Forest School Facilitator where I logged many hours out-of-doors, exploring nature, learning about the natural world, sitting in awe of what we discover, stringing zip-lines and hanging tarps to stay dry in the rain. If you want to “stack” the benefits of therapy, not only doing the therapeutic work, but reaping the benefits of time in nature, moving your body, exploring your inner and outer worlds, and bringing therapy into the real world, this option is for you.
When I’m not wearing my therapy hat (or toque typically), I gravitate towards the outdoors, seeking fun and adventure no matter the weather. I walk in my neighbourhood on a daily basis. I believe in satiating my body’s hunger for movement every day and feel so much better for it! I’m a maker and a music producer, a bookworm and a writer.
I wish you well and would be both honoured and delighted to walk with you on your journey.
