Julie Letkeman
BA, MMFT Student
Student Therapist

Hi there!  My name is Julie,  and I am a student therapist at Thrive Counselling. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Conflict Resolution Studies, and am currently a student in the Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy at The University of Winnipeg. I am a student member of the Canadian Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and my pronouns are she/her.

Seeking help is a courageous step, as it means acknowledging to ourselves that there are things in our life we would like to change. I believe that we each hold our own well of inner knowledge that can guide us as we become curious about what keeps us “stuck”, and that therapy can be an opportunity to explore what positive change might look like for you. I work from a strength based and trauma informed perspective, one that acknowledges individuals as the experts in their own lives.

My hope is that therapy is an empowering, supportive, and collaborative space that provides tools and strategies to work on your identified goals. I enjoy working with clients around issues such as addressing mental health concerns, developing positive coping skills, grief and loss, navigating life transitions and strategies for fostering  healthy communication and relationships. My approach to therapy  includes Narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Solutions Focused Therapy, with an attachment based focus. I’m looking forward to meeting you and being part of your journey!

When I’m not at school or work you can find me reading a good book, enjoying time outside, and spending time with those I love…usually with a good cup of coffee in hand!
