Nicole Hiebert
BA (Hons), MACP, CCC
Associate Therapist

Hello, my name is Nicole Hiebert, and I am an Associate Therapist at Thrive Counselling. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Western University in London, Ontario. I am also a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

In my practice, I work with children of all ages, adolescents, young adults and families.  At times parents feel lost and are unable to make sense of what their child is really asking of them.  My practice is designed to offer support to families who have a child struggling with social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues.  I co-create individual treatment plans with families in a collaborative manner to meet their needs.  My approach is from a systemic perspective while integrating play-based interventions to help families understand and manage their child’s emotions.  I utilize Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Attachment and Narrative Therapy. I also integrate information from Circle of Security into my sessions with parents and families.  Circle of Security is an evidence-based intervention that gives parents relationship tools to help them understand their child’s cues and how to support them to build more secure and positive relationships. I also like to integrate laughter into my sessions while helping to instill hope.

Throughout my time as a therapist, I have intervened with children and adolescents with a variety of presenting concerns. I have experience assessing for suicide in kids, understand the importance of culture and diversity, and have experience with grief and abuse. I also have experience in and enjoy Group Therapy.

In my personal life, I value time spent with family and friends, enjoy hiking and fishing, and being creative in crafts.
