About Brianne
Brianne Anderson (she/her)
BA (Hons); MSW Student
Student Therapist
Hello! My name is Brianne Anderson (she/her/hers), and I am a student therapist at Thrive Counselling. I am proud to be a student member of the Manitoba College of Social Workers (MCSW), as well as a registered member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I hold a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in Sociology from the University of Manitoba, and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree as a distance education student through the University of North Dakota.
As a student therapist, I aim to lead with humility and kindness while offering a safe, non-judgmental and affirming environment. I am a proud ally of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and work to apply harm reduction, intersectionality, trauma-informed and anti-colonial approaches within my work. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, understanding, and acceptance is the foundation to effective therapeutic work, and I consider it an honour to be able to connect with clients in this way. I encourage my clients to come as they are, and am dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space for all.
The primary frameworks I utilize are solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, attachment therapy and person-centered therapy. My background includes work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship difficulties and life transitions, as well as a history of work with individuals involved in various levels of the criminal justice system. I specifically enjoy working with individual adults of all ages, as well as children and teens.
Whether you are looking to address specific topics in your life or are simply wanting a listening ear, I aim to support your specific needs with a tailored approach to your goals and desired outcomes. Ultimately, I believe that you are the expert of your own life, and that with gentle guidance and encouragement, you will discover your own strengths, boundaries, and solutions through thoughtful conversation.
When I am not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to music, watching movies, and creating art.
