About Jacinth

Associate Therapist
Believing that the client is the expert on his or her own life, I practice a client-led approach to therapy. I hold a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from the University of Winnipeg, with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, and post-graduate certificate in Corporate Communication and Public Relations, background. Committed to the ongoing development of my therapeutic skills, I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an approach effective in treating traumatic memories. I am also a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
As a therapist experienced in working with clients of diverse backgrounds and with varying issues including, but not limited to: self-worth, decision making, trauma, sexuality, spirituality, addictions, depression, anxiety, boundary setting and relational stress, I bring these competencies into my work here at Thrive Counselling. I work with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents.
Upon nurturing the therapeutic relationship, I would describe my therapeutic style as integrative, and structured, while applying empirically tested models of therapy such as, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, The Satir Model, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy.
When not at my office, I might be enjoying time with my family, cooking, baking, reading, or watching movies. For some real rest and relaxation, I like traveling to a balmy beach vacation spot, eating good food, and soaking up the sun.
