About Lisa
Lisa Mumba
BA, MACP Student
Student Therapist
My name is Lisa Mumba, and I am a student therapist at Thrive Counselling. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree and am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, which I will complete in December 2025. I am passionate about supporting individuals and families as they navigate life transitions, identity concerns, relationship challenges, and emotional healing. My goal is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered to make meaningful change at their own pace.
My therapeutic approach is holistic and client-centered, integrating evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT). I also draw from Narrative Therapy to help clients explore and re-author their personal stories, and Strength-Based approaches to highlight resilience and inner resources.
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship stress, self-esteem issues, and life transitions. I also enjoy working with children and youth (ages 10 and up) using developmentally appropriate and creative interventions. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, exploring wellness practices, cooking, and fitness. I believe in the power of authenticity, compassion, and laughter in the healing process, and I strive to bring those values into every session.
