Hi, I’m Melissa Muir and I am an Associate Therapist at Thrive Counselling. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University in Los Angeles, California. I have also completed a Master’s degree specialization in Applied Community Psychology from Antioch. I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the Canadian Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

I have experience working with families and individuals challenged by depression, anxiety, addictions, problem gambling and trauma. I believe in taking a compassionate approach, focusing on individual strengths to overcome issues and reach personal goals. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, Narrative, Functional Family Therapy and Seeking Safety therapy approaches.

I also have over 15 years of professional experience developing and facilitating psycho-educational workshops, webinars and clinical training.

In my free time I enjoy travel, documentary film, and home renovation projects.
